What is HashSpace?

HashSpace is a private social network for the Hash House Harriers r*nning club: a place to be our usual fun-loving selves, share photos and keep in touch with hash friends around the world, without the rest of the internet looking over our shoulders.

HashSpace was created and is still run by Sux2Blow from the Nittany Valley hash in Pennsylvania.

The social network #

  • Your activity stream: post and comment, with photos, videos, polls and GIFs, and see what hashers you know are up to.
  • Groups: talk about a specific topic. We have groups for individual kennels, events, and other interests. Join the ones you like, or start your own.
  • Hashers: find people, add friends and send private messages.
  • Your profile: your hash name, photos and events, with you choosing who sees what.

Events #

Find the big ones and plan your trips: world and continental hashes such as Interhash, EuroHash, Pan Asia and InterAmericas, national hashes (Nash Hashes), anniversary and special runs, and the prelubes before them. Save the events you’re going to, and create your own.

Hash kennel locator #

Travelling, or new to hashing? The Hash Kennel Locations map shows kennels around the world, added by hashers. If yours is missing, add it with the + button on the map. The map is open to everyone, but entries from people who aren’t signed in are reviewed before they appear.

A short history #

  • HashSpace 1 (2008–2015) ran on Ning, a hosted social network service. Almost 20,000 hashers joined.
  • HashSpace 2 (2015–2025) moved to its own software after Ning’s price went up steeply. A lot of the original content was lost in the move due to Ning’s proprietary software which didn’t allow an easy export.
  • HashSpace 3 (2025 onwards) is this site: new software, starting fresh. Old accounts and posts weren’t carried over.
