Good news for every hasher who checks HashSpace between trails: you can now carry the whole community in your pocket. HashSpace works with Universo, a free mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android made by PeepSo, the company behind the software that runs our site.
What is Universo?
Universo is a single app that can open many different online communities. You don’t download a separate “HashSpace app”. You install Universo once, tell it which community you belong to, and from then on it opens straight into HashSpace. After you log in, the app uses HashSpace’s own logo and colors, so it feels like home.
It’s the same HashSpace you already know, with the same account, the same friends and the same groups. Anything you post from the app shows up on the website, and the other way round.
Why Universo and not a HashSpace app?
To get a dedicated HashSpace app would cost $999 per year. The Universo option only costs $99 per year. If we get to a point where we can afford a custom app, we can go that direction. For the time being, this is the best option for an app experience for HashSpace.

Universo is free in both stores:
- iPhone and iPad: Universo – Your Community on the App Store
- Android phones and tablets: Universo – Your Community on Google Play
You can also search either store for “Universo Your Community”. Look for PeepSo, Inc. as the developer.
How to connect to HashSpace
- Install Universo from one of the links above.
- Open the app and add HashSpace. When it asks for your community, type hashspace.com.
- Log in with your usual HashSpace username (or email) and password. You don’t need a new account.
That’s it. The app remembers you, so next time it opens straight into HashSpace.

What you can do in the app
- Keep up with the Activity Stream: read, like and comment on posts from fellow hashers.
- Post from the trail: share updates and photos straight from your phone’s camera roll.
- Join in your groups: follow your kennels and the conversations in them.
- Send messages: chat privately with friends.
- Check events: see what’s coming up on the HashSpace events calendar.
- Update your profile: change your photo, details and privacy settings.
Good to know
- Universo is free.
- Your privacy settings work the same in the app as on the website. Members-only posts stay members-only.
- Prefer a browser? Nothing changes. hashspace.com works on your phone just as it always has, and you can use both.
